Flight Instruction overview

  • Flying field is reserved for students on Tuesday evening. Regular flying not permitted by other club members.
  • Instructing starts around 5:00 PM through dusk.
  • Students will be accompanied by an instructor at all times while learning to fly. Unless they are soloing, the student should never attempt to fly by themselves.
  • It is the students responsibility to ensure his/her plane is kept in flight worthy condition at all times. They must perform regular maintenance and upkeep.

Daily Checklist

  • Fully charge batteries in TX, RX, glow igniter, and field box
  • Frequency pin
  • Airplane hold down
  • Fuel
  • Paper towels, rags, cleaning solution (Windex is excellent)
  • Rubber bands, tools
  • Water or cold drinks
  • Bug repellent
  • Sunglasses
  • Emergency first aid kit

____FIELD RULES____

Pilots Special Requirements for R/C Flying

  • Valid MAAC or AMA membership
  • Valid Stetson Club Membership

Pit Area and Pilots.

  • All TX in impound stand when not in use.
  • Do not switch on or remove TX from impound unless you have proper frequency pin installed on frequency control board.The definition of a "proper" frequency pin is:
    • A 3 Pin Tag for Wide Band radios is 1 3/4" X 2 7/8" wide
    • A 1 Pin Tag for Narrow Band radios is to be 5/8" wide by 2 7/8" wide.
    • The frequency pin must also indicate your name, frequency, and valid MAAC number.
  • No taxiing into or out of pit area.
  • Direct your slipstream away from other models and pilots.
  • Flying over the pits or visitors observation area is not permitted.
  • No flying with fuel burning models before 9:00 AM any day of the week.
  • ONLY FIVE (5) AIRCRAFT in the air at any one time.
  • A maximum of seven (7) frequencies to be occupied at any one time.
  • All MAAC safety regulations are to be followed. Copies available from the Club.
  • All engines must have mufflers.
  • Observe posted take off and landing directions.
  • No alcohol and flying.
  • Children and pets must be properly supervised.

Pilot and Non Pilots

  • ALL GARBAGE MUST BE REMOVED WHEN YOU LEAVE THE FIELD,AND
    THE GATE/CHAIN MUST BE LOCKED BY THE LAST PERSON TO LEAVE.
